April: A Wildflower Walk

April 2024

On the day our photo group met, it was also my birthday. What a perfect birthday outing, observing and photographing wildflowers, exactly what I love to do. My sister and I drove together trailing the other two members of our group through the canyon.

Poppies on the hillside.

This spring, the poppies were less abundant than usual, but still quite pretty. I pulled out my compact telephoto zoom lens to capture their beauty. _DSC6457aI find this lens ideal for photographing wildflowers.

It can capture an entire field of wildflowers or just focus on one bloom.

A telephoto zoom lens is good because it allows for the isolation of the wildflower, creating a focused image.

It has a shallow depth of field, so it creates blurred backgrounds.

What I’d really like to do, is learn a little more about macro photography. Someday, maybe.

Until next time…happy shooting.
